Christy Speakman is visual artist from New Orleans, based in NYC since 2005. Her work has been exhibited in a diverse range of spaces and contexts including Longwood Arts, Bronx River Art Center, Cuchifritos Art Gallery in the Essex Street Market, Chelsea Car Wash during Art in Odd Places SIGN 2009, Chashama, the Bronx Museum of the Arts, and LABspace. She was included in the Prospect 1.5 Arts Biennial at Octavia Gallery in New Orleans in 2010 and her work is on view in the permanent collection of the James Hotel in NYC. She has participated in artist residencies at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, the Santa Fe Art Institute, Oregon College of Arts and Craft and A Studio in the Woods. Speakman earned a Bachelor of Art from the University of New Orleans and an M.F.A from Ohio University. She is a two-time recipient of the Bronx Recognizes Its Own (BRIO) grant and a founding member of the +1+1 Artist Collective.
